I am having difficulty finding the parents and family of Joseph Redfern I think he may have had a sister named Lucy

This is what I know already
Born. October 1886 Bury Lancashire Fathers name Samuel
Died April 1964 Heywood I have grave papers

Married Catherine/Kate Philbin 12 December 1903 I have marriage cert

1901 Census age 15 he was a boarder with a family in Bury
I can't find the family at all on the 1891 Census

He also served with the Lancashire Fusiliers in the 1914-18 war and served overseas

Any help would be much appreciated

Jenny,

As there does not appear to be a birth registration in Bury perhaps Joseph Redfern was not actually his name at birth. Unfortunately during that Quarter there were lots of Joseph births registered in Bury so it is difficult to determine whether he might be one of those. Apart from the name of his father which I am assuming you obtained from the marriage certificate do your family records contain any other clues about his past?

Many thanks I will give this a try

May I ask I have just given his daughters birth cert a closer look and it gives Josephs profession as Private 11th Battalion Royal Fusilier would it be worth going down his service record although when I did this before it just drew a blank

Many thanks
