Find Ancestors

Hello all.

I have a copy of a birth certificate of a relative, Thomas Edwin Potter, born 10 January 1849, address, 20 Victory Row, Stepney, Mile End Old Town, Middlesex. Father William Potter, mother Maria Potter, (formerly Lester). Williams occupation, Dyer.

I'd like to ask someone if they could verify a marriage for me for William and Maria, before I send for the marriage certificate.

I have looked on freebmd and there is a marriage for William Potter and Maria Lusty, March quarter of 1843 in Stepney vol 2 page 356.

Is it possible that this could be the same couple as her name is Lusty and not Lester?

Just wanted a bit of help with clarification please, many thanks.

Yes, thanks Andy, I saw that! If Maria and William were married in 1843 that would make Maria 22. Would that have been ok then?

Also I've wondered if William was married before?..not impossible I know.

There is only the marriage banns on Ancestry and they were read on 29 5 and 12 and I think they married on 19th Feb.

It does say they were Bach. and Spin.
