Blue1 Report 25 May 2011 12:00

Hi,
Would some one please have a go at finding the marriage of

Rosina Chandler
Spouse Name: Alfred Barrett
Record Type: Banns
Marriage Bann Date: 16 Apr 1916
Parish: Lady Margaret Church
County: Surrey
Borough: Southwark

I can only find the banns on ancestry and not the marriage.
I am trying to work out the relationship of Rosina to my great grandfather Francis Chandler.
Her husband Alfred was a witness on my great grandparents marriage cert.

Many Thanks

Blue1

forgot to add that the couples address in 1917 was 287 East Street Walworth

Thanks Barbara,
I had found that one.I am in a bit of a pickle with this girl.
I have a feeling that she is the sister of my great grandad but that her real name is Rose Elizabeth. But she could be a cousin.
Any how ,both Francis my Great grandad and Rosina were living in East Street Walworth.
Had hoped that the marriage might show up on FMP

Oh well

Hi Barbara,
sorry for taking so long, was having another go at finding the marriage.

I think this is her,her father Also Francis Chandler was a painter decorator.

She did have a sister Vicky and a sister Rose.I have found the baps for most of the chandler children but have never come across this Rosina before, she seems to have slipped the net! just read through again and the Address is correct So yes it's her and I have another sister to add to to my Granddads family.
I hopre when I add her and husband I get some matches,I have a great photo of my Granddad to share when he was a young man,he was three years younger than Rosina

Many thanks again

Sorry,
just noticed it doesn't say Rosina, blast!
So am not sure now if the Rosie is Rose Elizabeth or Rosina

Blue1 Report 25 May 2011 12:59

Hi Rutland Belle,
If this is Rosina's birth then she is not my Great Aunt, will have to try and find a connection to my chandlers through her father.

Also Barbara
that is the family in 1901 with plain Rose in it.
Goodness gracious, begining to wish I hadn't confussed my self with finding the witness's on the marriage cert of grt grt grandparents!

Blue1 Report 25 May 2011 13:15

Hi Barbara,
Have just been having a look at bmd's and baps I have
It seems that Rose Elizabeth is the sister reg "ap may june 1896"

Rose Elizabeth Chandler Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1896 Registration district: St Saviour Southwark Inferred County: London, Surrey Volume: 1d Page: 98 (click to see others on page)

Bap for Rose

Rose Elizabeth Chandler Record Type: Baptism Estimated Birth Date: abt 1896 Baptism Date: 24 May 1896 Father's name: Francis Emerson Chandler Mother's name: Catherine Chandler Parish or Poor Law Union: Walworth St John the Evangelist Borough: Southwark

Rosina however same year different qtr

Rosina Chandler Date of Registration: "Jul-Aug-Sep 1896" Registration district: St Saviour Southwark Inferred County: London, Surrey Volume: 1d Page: 144 (click to see others on page)

So I think she must be rele other than a sister

On my grt Grandparents marriage cert

Hi Blue1

I think the death index you found was for the same Rosina that RutlandBelle found bap. record for.

The only way you can really find out who the Rosina who married alfred is --as you say--to buy the marriage cert.

Please will you let us know when you get the cert.

Best Wishes

Hi Barbara and Rutland Belle
Will do.
Getting more interesting though,so will be pleased to find out her father's name.

Just been looking through some old threads of mine and found one where I was funnily enough looking for the marriage of Francis Chandlers Grandfather and Grandmother,I could only find the banns for them.
Any how the post went much the same as this one.
I had a look at the 1891 census as the address on it caught my eye.Thomas Emerson Chandler and wife Mary were living in Chatham road
The same road the vicar has listed as Rosina and Alfred's address at the time of the marriage bann's.I had forgotten earlier that, that piece of info had been written on the page ,as well as the marriage was to take place at 12.30

So will certainly put findings on here when I have them.

all the Best Blue1
