Many Thanks for the help/replies. I think Josephs birth will have to remain a mystery. Jeremiah and Sarah had at least 5 children who where all christened within 6 months of their birth at St Phillips Birmingham. Joesph was'nt one of them. On his marriage certs his Father is named as Jeremiah boatman and on a census when he has Jeremiahs, brn 1832,daughter staying with him she is down as neice. I already have a rellie putting down his uncle as his father on his marriage cert, I think I may have something along those lines here |

Jeremiah married Sarah Wagstaff according to someones tree on Ancestry. They have Joseph as their child but no other children listed. They also have Jerimiah's parents. |

Just a thought. Is'nt there a register of Boatman? Or absent voters. |

Possibility for 1841, slightly older than expected though. Image very faint |

The Jeremiah I am looking for died in 1852, the reason, I thinks, they can't be found on the 1841 cesus is that they were boatmen working the birmingham/staffs canels |

There is a death for a Jeremiah Firkin in 1841 at West Brom Jan Feb March, I wonder if that was his father. |
