Look up William Kelso at:
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/western-land-grants/001007-100.01-e.php
He got title (letters patent) to 2 quarter sections, but the later one was cancelled (maybe he still had the one on S16SW).
Jakob Daum also got letters patent on S24NW T23 R32 on 22/2/1899.

Each Township Range combination identifies a 6m x 6m township block.
You can check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominion_Land_Survey to see how the 36 sections are numbered within a township block.

Once you know this, and the values for Calder & Macnutt, you can look these villages up at http://maps.google.com/ then just count of the sections or quarter sections to navigate to the land they got patent on, and see what's there today.

oh my goodness..Thank you mgv,..you have gone to a lot of trouble. I apologise for not replying sooner, for some reason gr is not notifying me when someone responds to my watched posts and as I had it marked as answered I didn't think to look at it again.. I have already obtained quite a lot of the info you have given me, as in census etc..but I hadn't looked for land grants or anything like that but I will go through the links you have given.. Thank you again, very much appreciated..

Kazz :-)
