I read someone's post that once something had been R R'd, the original poster could do nothing about it, it could only be changed by genes reunited staff.

But makes me wonder if it is just 1 (was going to say person, but this is better) IDIOT who was RR pressing and GR picked up those threads due to the name??

Why cant GR just remove the offending word?

Oh, I see what you mean, I missed that. He sent a message to GR apologizing for using the word and asking them to delete the message, Why would he do that? Why not just edit his post and remove the word?

I wonder if all the other RR's that have be reinstated were by the same person......... hence their return and not Madmik's???

I see madmik's post hasn't been reviewed yet. It's been 3 days. Does it take that long for GR to decide whether the word in question is offensive or not?

Well, whatever you do sox1, do not decide not to use the boards as I see you are researching the Salford area, amongst a couple of others and, since 99% of my ancestors are from there, I need you to post queries in case we ever connect :-D

As others have said, there is a problem at the moment with someone (or 'ones') reporting practically ever thread they see - To be fair, GR are putting them back on fairly quickly.

Hopefully this person (or persons) will be discovered and banned.

It is extremely annoying though for all concerned.

TootyFruity is perfectly right - this indiscriminate reporting of posts is not the "fault" of GR, it's person(s) viewing these boards going off half-cocked.

Yes, it's annoying if effort is duplicated when a new thread is started on the same family. Majority of times that happens is when the poster is new and hasn't read the guidelines. It would be much more helpful and constructive to post on the thread with a link to the original and pointing out the way things work. (Serial duplicators are another matter).

Yes, it's inappropriate to post overtly sensitive information on a thread but in most cases it can be resolved.

On the few occasions when I've reported threads I've always put a message on there first pointing out the problem.

The person(s) doing this latest batch of willy-nilly RRs must be as ill-informed as they perceive the posters to be (or they're just downright troublemakers) if they haven't the common sense to do things in an appropriate manner. All they are doing is wasting everyone's time.

Sox it is not GR doing the request review but someone unknown which hopefully GR will get to the bottom soon.

GR do seemto be looking at threads on the suggestions board and quite a few have been replied to by GR on that board

GR don't look at threads such as this......if you have a problem...contact THEM....not the other paying members.
