Can I just say ,Maureen thank you so much for the brilliant latest information. Thank you too to jax, choccy,Vera, Helen, Pam and jansmith, I am delighted to say that all your findings match up with my ancestors and in fact I have had contact with Vincent's family too having had the help from all of you kind people in this search with/for me.

I would just like to say a big thank you again for your time and patience when I was on the verge of giving up too. Not only has this opened up a new avenue, I am in touch with family members that I didn't know existed.

Cheers Everyone!

Thanks so much Maureen, I felt it should be right but nerves got the better of me as I have been down that route before and spent a lot of time and effort on;y to find it was the wrong Arthur Henry Brett! I can be reassured with your help, although I very nearly threw the towel in!

I was dozing off having spent late nights trolling through census etc thats why I am late in replying, I thought, I will take a last look at messages before bed and there you were, a star in the making, thank you very much fot taking the time.

Well,it sure looks like the same person/people to me!!!

Just a mistake on Dad's name on the birth cert,I guess, but I wouldn't know where it originated.

I think you're safe.

Thanks so much Maureen, I was giving up hope of anyone reading the last post!
Birth cert-It does give good info'
Mothers name Bridget Brett formerly Foley living at Bridge Street Stowmarket.
Arthur's birth says 10th October 1882
Registered birth 13th November 1882 and in very small hardly legible born?comb 19 Bridge St? not sure if it does say that with myself and husband scrutinizing!
thanks

I am sorry everyone, I feel like giving up this line of ancestors!

I have sent off for Arthur Henry Brett birth certificate to confirm that his father is Frederick Richard Brett, I have just received the cert' to find that his father's name is Frederick William Brett!!! Quite a few other details add up ie working in a Gun Cotton Works as was discovered by several kind people helping me earlier on this thread. Could the GRO have sent me the wrong cert , have I made a big mistake-again by researching the wrong line but correct name-please can someone help before I go completely insane!!

Oh my godness Maureen, this does make some sense as the name Foley certainly figures in our family not sure where though and Dublin although I assumed that this was on the other side of the family that has Irish connections too. I am really excited at researching this further so thank you again for giving a helping hand.
To jansmith and others that have put meat on the bones!

Re: Fred's wife. Yes,it means she was born in Ireland (as it shows on all the other census) but is a resident of Britain.

I'm really not good on Ireland, but if Bridget's maiden name turns out to be Foley on Arthur's birth cert, you might want to have a look at:

It really is amazing that more information than I could have dreamed of has been found so thank you again, one thing though, I see that Fredericks's wife, on the 1911 census reports that she is an 'Ireland Limerick resident 'can anyone enlighten me as to what that means, I assumed born there but it says differently on other census.
