Ginny
I think you are right
It might be a good idea to get the death cert, could be a clue somewhere.
The son she was with went off to America or somewhere so he is not available but could have been registered by someone else.
Thanks for your help

Christine
Susie was my mum's cousin ,but the same age as my grandmother and therefore her best friend.
Nan's husband was Thomas' brother.
Susie doesn't seem to be on the 1911

Jany Report 3 Jul 2011 15:15

I have had a thought...
As she isn't anywhere in 1911 and I can't prove she is a daughter on Thomas and first wife, could she be a daughter of his second wife before she met Thomas?
Maybe he adopted her.
Her name was Florence Rogers, there are several children from Thos and Florence....
All were short and dark and Susie was 5. 10 and blonde!!

Who were her children Jany?

Forget that I can see their births and it doesnt help as the maiden name is Rees

Gee

Gee Report 3 Jul 2011 15:05

Id send for her death certificate just to check if there are any clues as to her maiden name

Gee

Gee Report 3 Jul 2011 15:01

I wonder if she adopted? Theres nothing matching a birth for her in the last q of 1906 and the first q of 1907

Have you found your grandmother on the 1911? Who is looking after her?

Or was Susan a friend of your grandmother, and not a sister.

Ginny
Thank you..I didn't have the deaths.
Max was born in 1910 and his last address was in Richmond,so that does look like him.
I knew Susie had moved to her son's so that looks like her.
So her death was registered as Susie then
I really think it was not her real name now.
Thank you very much

Jany

Have you found her death?

Jany

Jany Report 3 Jul 2011 14:33

Maddie
Thank you for looking.
Really odd...She was definitely alive!
I am beginning to think that Susan Hannah was not her real name.I know they were the names of her grandmother and gt grandmother and wonder if she really had a horrible name and changed it.
But I think you have to get married under your real name, don't you?
Thank you very much for your help

Marie Celeste.
Yes,the info was from the marriage
I only knew her as Susie
Thomas ,her father was a cab driver and lived in Marsden St Kentish Town.
Susie was a dancer(Tiller Girl) and Max an 'entrepreneur'
As her father was widowed by 1911 and didn't have children with his next 'wife' till 1915,I guessed that Emma was Susie's mother,
Susie was the same age as my grandmother who was born in 1904, sso could be 1903 or 1905?

Jany

Jany Report 3 Jul 2011 14:05

Hi Maddie
I did see that one,but ruled it out.
It could be the names Susan and Hannah were stuck together when they registered her or Susan parted them when she got older..??
I did try to find Susannah Mary in 1911 to eliminate her,but can't see her anywhere.
