if you have reasons to think that a particular person was his father why not state the name and the reasons ?

if someone asked you to look for a needle in a haystack and didn't tell you where the haystack was ....... ?

to search for someone in censuses one needs to know all known informatin about him ... for instance the fact that he was called Maurice Arthur when he married and in 1901 is really quite relevant when one is searching for him in 1891 ...

to search for John Arthur effectively one needs to know all known information about him and it can help to know all suspected or possible information about him

I am still wondering whether you would answer about his death, do you know when and where, and might it be the one I enquired about

knowing the name a person's death was registered under is also useful
