Thanks for all the help, my nearest family history center is about 1200 miles away. I have these Herrings in my tree, but not as direct line. I am trying to see if there is a connection to my direct Herring line.

What does this 1841 census say?

You need to go to your nearest Family History Center and order the Filch and find him that way .If it's your main line ,you want records anyway.

Single men sometimes missed Census .Out working or having a pint LOL

As George was a mariner, he could have been at sea in 1851.

According to marr. cert. and the following cencuses he was born between Apr 1829 and Mar 1830.
