I've just received a birth cert for Elizabeth Forster in Wigan 1869, but it has no name of father, just mother Sarah Forster formerly Ashby. However her marriage cert in 1888 named her father as James Forster. Wonder why he wasn't on the birth record?? Anyway I'm not having much luck finding the marriage of Sarah Ashby and James Forster, or the birth of Sarah Ashby, presumably in the 1840's, any help with my search would be much appreciated thank you x |

If she's a grandaughter of the Hill family how could she be a daughter of Sarah Forster formerly Ashby? |

Margee, that's exactly what I thought, maybe the Hill family took her in if she was orphaned, do you think it would be worth searching death records for Sarah Forster? |

So, if you have the birth cert for the details posted above - the mother's maiden name is ASHTON, yet you have said 'ASHBY' ??? - Which one is correct? |
