Find Ancestors

Hi all.

I'm trying to find more information about Margaret McKelvie who married Patrick Black in Glasgow in December 1882.
Her parents are on the marriage certificate as John McKelvie and Catherine McKelvie (nee Docherty)

I searched and searched on Scotlands People for birth records for all the McKelvies and marriage records for John and Catherine but had no luck. Then I found on the 1891 census that Margaret was actually born in Ireland!

Is there anybody who is able to look up information on the McKelvie's in Ireland please?

not having a lot of luck here - have been looking for children born in Ireland to John and Catherine between the likely years of 1860 to 1880

Looks probable the family Catherine listed may be correct as John and Cath were certainly in Hutchesontown when Patrick was born...

I can't get my head around some of the dates though. The death record for Catherine McKelvie (Docherty) looks right. This would mean she was born around 1829

But on the 1871 census (which also looks promising), shows that Catherine McKelvie was born around 1820. Could the dates really be 9 years out?

Yes Natalie..Highly probable....Remember the Death (and other records) were only as accurate as the info supplied.
Whoever Reg.Caths death may have had no idea haow old she was...!

I have just checked back and found Ann McKelvie married a Michael Doherty (1873) !!!
John married a Mary McGinty

Cath.married a Willie Nelson....

Hope this is the right family...

Found Patrick married to a Elizabeth Mc Grattan 1886 Gorbals, looked at it and it is the right one. But I can't find John's death nor can I find him in 1891 census

Had another look at Catherine death cert, the informant give the address as 22 now I know it Portugal st from Patrick marriage. Found this family but the ages don't added up
