Anthony sorry but this doesn't help much

In my tree i have -
Robert Dorton 1912-1968
married in 1932
Ada Edney 1912 - 1989

how did that get into your tree ?

as you can see there is no birth of a Robert Dorton 1912

there is also no death of a Robert Dorton in 1968

this record is the closest match

Name: Robert Frederick Dorton
Birth Date: 6 Nov 1912
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1969
Age at Death: 57
Registration district: Dartford
Inferred County: Kent
Volume: 5f
Page: 873

but again that date of birth does not match a birth record

if Nic's parents have not been consulted and agreed to their details being here you should edit your post to delate their personal info, it is not needed for the purpose of this search anyway, ditto for his mother's father if he is living

the next step then is to get the Dorton Edney marriage certificate as I was saying %3A-%29

it will tell you what age Robert Dorton reported ( he may simply have overstated his age because he was younger than Ada ) and what name and occupation he gave for his father

this information is essential if you want to research farther back
