How does Arthur Watson become the father of Alan Ferguson born 1933 please...?

What does it say on his birth cert for father ?as going on his birth refs you are correct that his mother was a mclouglan maiden name, but it does not add up that his father was a Watson..

Is that what it says on his marriage cert to Dorothy and if so what was Arthurs occupation please and does it say Deceased or not on it?

No way could Arthur Watson have been born after about 1919 as he would not have been old enough to father a child I dont think..

Please would you explain a bit more and tell what certs you have and your starting point ?
Thank you

Kady

Kady Report 10 Aug 2011 14:07

My starting point is just what my grandad alan ferguson has told me about who he believes to be his dad. Arthur watson born between 1890 and 1900 in hunslet yorkshire and that he may have married elizabeth mcloughlan

Kady Report 10 Aug 2011 14:09

I no its very vague and i dont understand how my grandad is a ferguson if his dad is a watson. Thanx for any help anyone can give

Kady

Kady Report 10 Aug 2011 14:13

I think arthurs occupation was a blacksmith and his mother was a school teacher

So he does not have a fathers name on his birth cert or he has been told that the fathers name on it is not his real father...It happened and still happens..
As it looks like his mother was married to someone else called Mr Ferguson at the time or widowed maybe she would have had to reg your grandad as Ferguson as that was her married name...

Arthur Watson born in Hunslet Yorkshire sometime really is not enough to go on to try and trace him on census ...

Do you know what he did for a living or maybe when and where he may have died?

I can find no marriage for Elizabeth Mclaughlan to a Ferguson on Freebmd or Scotlands people.....Do you know anything about Elizabeth Mclaughlan to try and place her on 1911 census to try and get a lead on her whereabouts and maybe get closer to Arthur Watson?

All info you have no matter how small can help..

Does he know where and when his parents died?
Or maybe just his mum?

Where and when were his sisters and brother born?

Kady

Kady Report 10 Aug 2011 15:54

Im going to get a copy of his birth certificate and then try again. The name ferguson is puzzling me because neither his mother or father are fergusons and i cant find anywere his mother marrying a ferguson? Its a mystery :-D

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 10 Aug 2011 16:07

Would you send me a private message when you have it please Kady..?

I loathe unsolved mysteries and am so nosey that it will keep me awake not being able to try and help solve it with you now... :-D

A good start on his mother would be when and where she died as it would give a good idea of her birth year and if in Scotland should have her parents details on the death cert...

I cant find his sisters and brother birth, but maybe under a different surname or in Scotland?

Maybe Elizabeth married in Scotland or Ireland,or just didnt bother marrying legally?

Kady Report 10 Aug 2011 16:10

He dosent no anything about his parents deaths or were his older brothers and sisters were born, and because they have all died hes never going to know, which i find quite sad really, thats why ive tried tracing them, but he knows so little that its proving impossible.
