On his marriage cert. it should tell you (or usually does) which Parish both the bride and groom belonged to |

No, they may have known their ages, but the enumerators who filled out the sheets which we see, were instructed to round adults ages down to the nearest five. Most of them did, but some did not. |

Yes I have just had a look at the 1841 cesus record I have and all the adults are either 0 or 5 except for children there ages are listed 1 to 14 on the page I have does this mean that the adults may not have know there age? |

Ages on the 1841 were rounded down to the nearest 5, so he could have been anything from 30 to 35! |

Remember that ages were rounded down to multiples of 5 for the 1841 census. So someone whose age is given as 30 could be anywhere between 30 and 34 years of age. |

I thing that one of these marriages will probably be one I will need but with James being born early 1800s they may be grand parents of James but I am keeping this record I just cant be sure because I would be looking for repeating christian names |

1804 may be at bit to early as his death says 43yrs old in 1851 I know that only goes on what the informant says but the 1841 census says 30 yrs in 1941 and I would imagine that James or Catherine would have given this age I also realise that some people didnt know how old they were This is fantastic info that everyone is giving me I would not have a clue where any of these places are as I am in Australia I am sure between us we can track down either the birth or the right parents for James |

Not all parish records give the names of the bride and groom's fathers - it varies from parish to parish. The actual image may not give you any more detail than you have. |

I have only looked at what scotlandspeople shows online as a parish record and there is only Catherine Brown`s fathers name not James`s father I dont know if I apply for the actual record if there would be anymore info than that as I am not used to scotlands records |
