Please can someone help me by finding the marriage of James G. Bushnell b. 1855 Berkshire and Charlotte Unknown b.1866 Winkfield, They had 2 children Edith and James Alfred G.

Edith was born 1888 Bracknall, and James was born 1891 Sparsholt. I can find them in the 1891 census living in Berkshire.

My hunch is that James married Ellen Emily Smith, based on this:

Quite likely that Edith was his daughter with Ellen, and the other children with Charlotte (they may never have formally married).

You really need to get some birth certificates to check this out.

The birth certificate of James will give you Charlotte's maiden surname

There is a tree on Ancestry that states James married Charlotte Susan Goodchild in 1883. Only problem is, the marriage citation they've attached is that we've posted above and, as we know, there's no Charlotte on there (don't people check stuff?!).

It states she then married a William Moses Kislingbury in 1901.

The 1911 is interesting where it says how long she'd been married, on the original it looks like the 25 was crossed out and replaced with 21, even though she'd been married to William for 10. (She'd had 10 children, 9 surviving):

Yes that what I was thinking,was she born a Goodhild.

No not the one above - she is on the 1891 census with her mother Elizabeth and sister Emily. In 1901 Edith and Emily are in the workhouse.

Well maybe that one, I am now thinking that this is the one in the workhouse in 1901.

I have looked for Edith Mary Goodchild born 1887 on the 1891 census and I don't see her or a death for her. So, I am thinking that Edith was Charlotte's child born before she was with James?


The only way to be sure is to buy the certificate.
