I wondered if Ross was Leslie's mother maiden name but his mother was Ada Allen, she was his father William's 3rd wife.

Number one was Lydia Mapham c 1828 - 1887 aged 62. He married her in 1856 at Ticehurst Sussex

Number two was Lydia's sister Florence Mapham c1863 - 1901 aged 37. Florence was 20 years younger than William. Florence was living with Will and Lydia in 188. Will married Florence in 1888 at Lewes Sussex.

Number three was Ada Allen, Leslie's mum, born c 1863 and married Newhaven Sussex in 1901.

Here is the 1911 for Leslie if you don't already have it. It states married 9 years and 2 children both living. I think Elm farm had been on previous census's

Thanks Teneriffe sun
I have that information already. Florence, the 2nd wife was actually Lydia's niece and had been living with them. She had 3 children by William prior to their marriage and whilst Lydia was still alive. Well she was pregnant with the 3rd at the time. Rum doings indeed.
Again my thanks
