I am a newbie, could you tell me how to obtain a birth certificate for the above.
I am trying to find the father of Charles Henry Ede born 17/8/1885 Greenwich, spouse Henrietta Ann Ede, formerly Bilton.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Les, Dea has given you the reference for Charles the son, whereas you seem to be after Charles the father's birth.
therefore the details are:
1837 Dec Qtr - Ede, Charles Marylebone Vol.1 page.117
(So just crept in after Civil Reg started!!)

Other details given (i.e.get them from the GRO for £9.25. pay no more than that) still applies.

No birth Certs n England and Wales cannot be viewed online, so must be purchased.
Interesting that you say Henrietta's maiden name was Bilton, as there are a couple of trees on Ancestry that mention this. However, I could not find a marriage for them. The only one for a Charles Ede to a Henrietta is the one Dea mentions.

Hi RobG
I have not found a marriage either, I found Henrietta's death certificate and it stated Henrietta Bilton Ede. She was born 1858 and died 1906.
Maybe Charles Henry had a previous marriage? this I am still searching, there was quite an age gap between Charles Henry Ede and Henrietta Bilton, he was 21 years older.
