Hi;
Looking for info on a Marion Litchfield born 1859/1860 . She married Samuel Hopkins, in Cambridge 1881, and later re-married to Alfred Lawe in Cambridge 1896. I do not know who her parents are, or if she had any siblings.

Thanks for the info you sent to me re: Marion Litchfield. I see that acording to the marriage info, Marion's father was given as John James, deceased. Would this mean that Marion's mother had re-married to a Litchfield since Marion has this name as a surname and not "James"?

Yes, William Hopkins is my maternal granfather. I do have some info, including the ship he came over to Canada with his wife Hannah and daughters Phyllis and Iris; Iris is actually a step daughter but she was my favourite Aunt. I am trying to find William's army history buit have to find his regimental number.

aah, yes, I noticed on Baptism of Phyllis, it says Soldier (will send to you, along with other Hopkins, if you like) saw them going out, and a Canada Arrival Card.

Will look around for William, haven't come across his Marriage (in case it gave Regiment, an outside chance I know, lol)

Hi Chris;
William married Hannah May Garner about 1919 as per Cambridge district vol 3b, page 481; also noted on Camdex 331/RO/CAM/125/64/1 1919; I have not actually looked it up yet, but hope to soon. She had married Ernest Brooks first about 1916 but he was killed in action in France. Iris was the daughter of Ernest and Hannah, while the rest of the children from Phyllis onward were from William and Hannah. Iris and Phyllis were born in England, the family then emmigrated to Canada, entering Canada at Quebec then took the train to Picton, settling in Wapoos, where my mother was born.
I am trying to get the regimental number for William, but difficult to obtain. He had enrolled in the Leicestershire 2nd battalion, and served in the Royal Engineers as well as the Signal Corp..
I would really enjoy seeing what you have on William Hopkins. Even though he was my grandfather, I never really knew him very well. . I was only about 10 when he passed away.
