Now then, this is interesting or should I say muddying the waters! It may explain why Robert John wasn't with Sarah and the children in 1901 when the cesus was taken.

Name: John Hogan
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1866
Age at enlistment: 35
Birth Parish: St Marys
Birth County: Limerick
Document Year: 1901
Regimental Number: 18275
Regiment Name: Royal Horse and Royal Field Artillery
Number of images: 7

Height 5'2"
Complexion Fresh
Eyes Blue
Hair Light Brown
Roman Catholic
Figure of a woman on left forearm and Scar back of neck.

A copy of his death record is included.

ROBERT John Hogan died 10th March 1939 at 131 Stow Hill, Newport, aged 73 years of 1 New Street, Newport. Dock Labourer (retired). Cause Cardiac Failure and Senile Myocarditis. The informant was E. R. Lynch, Daughter in attendance of 1 New Street, Newport.

Served in South Africa 1899.

NOK: wife Sarah, 17 Kresweth (Sorry no tooo clear) Place, Cathays, Bristol.

Marriage to Sarah Watch, Spinster, 9.11.91 Witnesses Wm. Savill and C. Savill.

He enlisted in Octber 1884 and was recalled in 1899. In 1884 he gave his next of kin as his mother Catherine, Francis Street, Limerick. He intended to stay at Bath Street, Bristol on his discharge.

So given the above information can the Robert John that married Sarah Watch be Sheilagh's Robert John?
