No matter which way I look I cant find this relative.
Hes called JOHN PEDDER MACKERETH born about 1854 in Manchester.
I can find a marriage in OND1877 he was 23 then he died when he was 36 in 1890 in Newcastle Work house, cant even find anything on here for that.
I know Im more thanl likely looking in all the wrong places but could somebody try it for me before I fling the laptop out of the window lol.

In the next house there is an Maragret Mackereth 47 unmarried and it says she is sister to wife of the head of the house who is Peter Hodgson and wife Agnes. She is down as an imbersile.

As far as I know Gins there father is unknown. I often wonder if Pedder which isnt a family name was a clue to the dads id.

Both Mackareth & Hodgson are still common surnames in South Cumbria (formerly Westmorland).
If you are trying to work back from John, I would suggest you concentrate your search there.
County Hall in Kendal have extensive records in their archives & the staff at Kendal library are very helpful.

Margaret went on to get married for a 2nd time to a Frank Pearson thats where I come into it lol. One of her daughters to Frank was my nan. The story with Frank was he left Margaret with children and went to America. My thought are he just beggered off one day and left her to it. Ive got a similar story on my husbands side with his GG grandad lol. I suppose in those days it was easy for a man or woman to just up sticks and walk off and no one know where they went to.
