Find Ancestors

So I am still stuck at to who John Smith Greatrex married? It wasn't Sarah Smith becuse on the marridge cert it said John or Thomas for his dad when his dad waa William Greatrex. I have searched and can't find anyone els, but must of married someone, for he was a widower.

Well I am really confused now, for it said Smith on staffsbmd for John Gratrix's mum's maiden name, but that is the Sarah Smith who was married to John Grattidge and his dad was also John, so the record office told me and it sure doesn't look like William!

Sorry Shirley I understand now, As you say that the young John could of been Sarah's and not john's so it may say who was his mums maiden name?

No that 1863 is the birth of John Junior

The only one that i could find was Sarah Bagley to a John Gratrix

That is the one im afraid Gins ware the dad is John intead of William as I found the marriedge cert at the record office and was sure i had the correct one and when it wasn't i was so shocked and had to go back and start again and now I just can't find anytihing? Its like his parents they just seemed to dissapare after the 1841 census?

Wow Shirley thats great so there was a Sarh who married John and passed away in 1871, I wounder what her maiden name was? Its so diffiicult because my surname gets writtan diferently down the years! Looked under greatorex, Greatlidge and others but nothing?

this is great, sorry I should of said that John Smith was born 1839 in Stafford, Staffs and his mum was Catharine Smith and dad William Greatrex. So he was living with a George Bates in 1871, do you think this could of been the family of his first wife? He was a lift wagoner in the railway industry. It sais sarah ann Greatrex 1 month but as he was married in 1871 to Fanny Buxton I wonder ware she was?
