Hi Im still looking for Lawrence, I wonder if he was born in the USA, does someone have access. Also Lawrence and Lillian weren't married for long as she married Thomas Douglas Earl in New Zealand in 1927, her daughter came with her to NZ (Rosa), So what happened to Lawrence or who was he, it was just after WW1 so Im thinking he may have been American, then skipped. Help this is driving me crazy

Julie

The fact that the certificate has the same address for both of them merely means that one did not live in the same parish.

This meant that Banns should have been read for 3 weeks in that parish as well as in the one where they were married.

To save the extra expense, many brides and grooms give the same address ............ I guess the vicars winked their eye at such blatant lying!

Of course, it is no help when you are looking for where one partner is from!

All it really means is that these two people were in the Merchant Navy.

They may not have any connection to each other, or to the people we are looking for.

I was checking if the name could have been mis-read as there was a Lawrence Alfred born Boston, Lincolnshire in 1889 - so guess that's not him

Hi no its Albert, and he is a "bachelor". The person whom I'm helping with this family mentioned that there was someone in the family that comitted bigamy, and there was a write up in the papers, but he has no idea who it was, or when it happened

Flip

Flip Report 27 Apr 2012 09:07

If the certificate is difficult to read, is there any chance the middle name could be Alfred? And was he recorded as bachelor or widower?
