Hi Gwyn, I see what you mean about Louisa having more children and being 41, it's not uncommon today but back then it would not probbably true. Would Louisa of reverted her name back to Perkin and that is why we can't find her under Massey?
Thanks for all your help and will let you know what I discover!

After this marriage......

Marriages Sep 1937
Edwards Joseph.... Massey... Rowley R. 6b 2838
Massey Louisa .......Edwards ....Rowley R. 6b 2838

.......there are children born, who appear to be of this couple. The mother's maiden name for these children is shown as MASSEY.
One would expect that if this was 'your' Louisa marrying, then there would not be those births showing in that way in the index, as her maiden name was not MASSEY.
Also
Your Louisa would be around 42 years old by then and would probably not have several more children.

This is ALL guesswork, but would be my way of limiting the buying of certificates, if it looked an unlikely match.
Hopefully you will be able to decide on the best and most likely marriage match and buy the certificate to confirm the facts.

Hiy Gwyn, thanks so much for your help and is much appricated! I am not sure what you mean for the Edwars Rowley r. Do you mean she kept her maiden name or became Massey? The Louisa Massey who married the Mackie, was Mathews her maiden name?
What do you think i should do next?
Thanks

If you look on freebmd, there are EDWARDS births in the right region with mother's maiden name MASSEY following that marriage.

This suggests that this is probably not your Louisa marrying in 1937 in Rowley R.

Marriages Sep 1919

Matthews Louisa ...Mackie ....Birmingham 6d 480

WOW!! good greif! Thanks Gwyn and Shirley! It gets even more strager! I really don't know if she moved away from staffordshire and is one of the ladies you have here or remarried? It could be that Mackie is spelt wrong and is really Massey?
Thanks for your help! I guess my next step is to get the marridge certs that Jan told me about to rule them out! If I could get in touch with a decendat of her brothers or sisters and their parents or grandparnets had mentiond her, then that would put light on to it, but that is a very slim chance!
Louisa's family William George Perkin 1858 and Louisa Hodson 1860 both lived in Sandon, so surley that would be a good place to look? Louisa work at the Roma farm nr Sandon as a domestic Servant in 1925

Not seeing a death for her. maybe she didn't remarry but lived with someone and was known by their surname. That would be a needle in the haystack!

thanks jan i will try this. I have found Richards burrial and hoping that Louisa could of been burried in the same place? Hoping that she did remarry and found some happienss after she lost her husband to a nasty illness and had to give up her 3 children. They don't know what happend to her either. I think her date of birth is the 3rd or the 8th of oct 1895 but forgoton, so will have to get out her birth cert! Thanks for your help and will keep you posted!

You need the actual birth date for this to be attempted - my idea would be to search using this plus 1st name, no surname. Something of a long shot though!

brummiejan Report 4 May 2012 12:35

Do you have her exact birth date by any chance? If she died after 1969 it is possible to use this to look for deaths. Providing the informant knew of course!
