Find Ancestors

I am researching my partner's family tree and could do with some help please.

His maternal grandparents are John Annenberg and Marjory E. Martin.

I have that John was born around 1891, I cannot find a birth record though.

He and Majory married in 1940.

They had 3 children :

Shirley - 1935
Raymond- 1937
Wendy - 1948.(my mother in law)

I have found a 1934 electoral register entry, stating that John and Marjory were together in the Harrow & Weald and that Marjory was named as Annenberg. Maybe pretending to be married??

I have a death record for John in 1952.

I cannot find anything for 1901 census or 1911.

I'm a bit stumped.

any help would be appreciated.

What Flip posted is connected as I know 'Paul' is cousin to my other half.

I cant seem to get hold of him though so I am trying to research the family branch myself.

Jacob being John could be the spanner in the works, and the reason I cannot find a birth.

To me, and I may be wrong, but this looks like an east european Jewish background. Put yourself in their place back in the late 19th & early 20th century and many changed names for various reasons, there was a lot anti-semitism around and lots of prejudice.

I assume you've found Paul's birth in Hendon and Raymond/Hazels marriage in 1959 - but he could be on a completely wrong track with his ancestry.

Think this could be Fanny's death - still assuming Paul has the right details??

Also, the possible re-marriage posted by Brummiejan was in Harrow, Middlesex according to the bmd index (so mis-transcribed somewhere as Harlow?)

yes looking into this , it looks like Marjorie married 3 times!

The 1st is to John in 1940

then to William Mayo in 1953

and lastly to Edward Shuter in 1973.

I have found a couple of times now that Harrow has been mis transcribed as Harlow!!

Done a bit more searching, but not coming up with much. According to that on-line tree Isaac/Tobias re-married as he was with Rachel on the ER at the time he died in Sheffield, I think this may be the marriage:

The other thing turning up, Kitty from the 1901 census was registered as Gheety Q2/1895, York. She is on a passenger list (FMP) London - Sydney, Australia 1916 - but I don't have sub to access this.
