A woman's maiden name is the name she was BORN with - that doesn't change, no matter how many times she marries

Because its mothers maiden name not her previous married name that is recorded on the birth cert

The BIRTH cert is your best bet.......order it on line from the GRO It will cost £9.25 including postage

Dont forget this was War time so Stanley may not have been born in Hampshire but was stationed there

As the marriage was towards the end of WW1, it may be that the lady had been married before

The birth cert will provide the answers.........the census will not. The last one available is 1911
