I'm taking advantage of the free access on ancestry, but am having real trouble finding any of my families. can anyone give me some tips please? I must be searching wrong as have never had trouble with ancestry before. Thanks |

That is very probably the case Reggie! - on Ancestry searches 'less is more' as they say ;-) |

thanks hun, looking for Arthur Wilkes born 1878 Walsall Staffordshire, wife Rose born 1879 Walsall and children Eric, 1903 Edith 1904 ,Jessie 1909 and William 1910. should still be in the Walsall area. |

Thank you everyone, need a little bit more help if anyone is available please. Did a search of the census for Oram Pemberton born 1875 in Walsall. I get a match but it comes up as census summary book and therefore doesn't give me any information. Can I look him up another way to get the actual census? thanks again for your time |

When things are mistranscribed Linda it is worth using wildcards in the search boxes (i.e. not the full names) - If you had tried Art* Wil* and put the county of birth as Staffordshire (sometimes the actual place differs) - maybe even spouse's name as Rose, then you would have been given 2 results to look through - one born in Brierley and one in Walsall, which was, in fact the one you wanted but mistranscribed. |

I just posted that Reggie but got confused when I saw your 1901 and thought it was the 1911 and I had got the wrong one so I deleted :-D |
