Find Ancestors

I am trying to find a family of Ebernezer Rogers I think was a wheelwright in Yalding. His daughter Harriett Isabella Rogers married John Greenhill in 1863 in Uckfield. I cannot find a wife or parents for Ebernezer (spelling?) Rogers born about 1821 I think. His wife may have been a Harriett or Isabella....possibly he died and she remarried. Any help please. sonya

I believe the (A) represents an addition in the marriage books due to a late entry so consider this entry as a possible? i would have thought both bride and groom should have the (A) listed but I'm sure some one will correct me if i am wrong

Are you presuming that the Ebenezer Rogers in Yalding on the 1841 census is the one you are looking for ?

Ask again - do you have the marriage cert ?

If the man on 1841 is the one being researched, the marriage in 1840 doesn't seem relevant

BUT.............

You must work backwards ....................

Do you have Harriet's marriage cert?

Although, to find out who Ebenezer married, you should get the birth cert

on checking the image it looks like the original which at that time should be hand written has been transferred at some time and is now typed,

The entry above Harriet ends with the letter (A) so that transcription from the old scan could be misplaced (I think) and should be along site Harriet's page number.

any other thoughts on that?

The entry i posted above where i think the problem is with the copy of the original index has this CATT Edmund Rye 7 473A he and Harriet are the only entries with no possible spouse listed which adds to my suspicions

On the later census she gives Maidstone as place of birth

1901 she is using Isabella

1844 Harriett born gives father as Eberneezer Rogers Wheelwright Mother Harriett Rogers formerly (Catt?)? 1868 Harriett married John Greenhill. Gave father as Eberneezer Rogers occupation Wheelwright deceased.
