In case you're wondering ................ I'm fiddling around trying to see what the complete surname of Concha and Antoni might be.

It is impossible to find Antoni's birth under Ma*cias, can't find his marriage

but wondered if Peter Xiberas was a relation of the wife Margaret.

there is a marriage for Antonio- well, an antonio, but the surname is spelled without an R

1974, kensington

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Oct 2012 07:48

That's an interesting one

There are actually TWO entries

Antonio Aragon Macias Bustin Apr-May-Jun 1974 Kensington Middlesex

Antonio A Macias Bustin Apr-May-Jun 1974 Kensington Middlesex

If you look at the record for the wife on the first one, it shows his surname as Aragon Macias .................

Gail J Bustin Aragon Macias Apr-May-Jun 1974 Kensington Middlesex

for the second one ......................

Gail J Bustin Macias Apr-May-Jun 1974 Kensington Middlesex

That means the registrar wasn't certain about the surname/surnames

Is it possible that Concha is short for Conchita?

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 29 Oct 2012 03:39

Sarah

I did wonder that ......... that's why all the searches I did, I did using Conch*

BeverleyW

BeverleyW Report 29 Oct 2012 07:29

Concha is actually short for Concepción. Conchita or Concha (or Conchi) are all strictly speaking diminutives of this name.

Sarah

Sarah Report 29 Oct 2012 16:32

Might be worth doing another search with Conce* as well then if it is often short for Concepcion.

Sarah

Sarah Report 29 Oct 2012 16:43

Another shortened version oc Concepcion is Chita too.

Quite a few Concha Reyes and Concepcion Reyes born in Mexico and Puerto Rico around a similar time according to FamilySearch. Do you know for sure she was born in Gibralter or just lived there? Also possible she could have been from mainland Spain.
