Fox On The Rocks

Fox On The Rocks Report 12 Sep 2013 21:54

I was talking to my partner today about my previous obsession of geneology. He has now asked me to try to track down a few of his ancestors, but am a bit rusty in the game and was wondering if any of you can help.....?

(I am by no means an expert and could really use some expert help)

Parents: Margaret (peggy) Prentice Gordon, b. 1930, Belfast..
Albert John Waston, d. april 1994, N. Ire.

G.parents: Edith Rose Watson(maiden name not known) b.1902, d. 1944
Albert John Watson, b. 1902, d. 1944.

The grandparents named here where both killed in their own home in the blitz in 1944 when a bomb struck their house, when they where living at 3 Caladonian Terrace, borough poplar, Millwall, London. The house no longer exsists.

If anyone here can find me any information on this or point me in the right direction, i would be so terribly thankful.

Fox On The Rocks Report 12 Sep 2013 22:10

Addition info is that Albert John Watson (Jnr) who married Margaret Gordon, served in ww2 in the royal navy and was in a submarine that was torpedoed, but he survived......

I am really now old to this as its been so long since I looked at a tree, but I would love to find some info on this. Whilst my partner was talking to a relative about this today, in order to get background dates, etc., the relative got quite emotional and if I can get at least some sort of tree going for said relative, and indeed my partner, would be such a lovely thing for them to have. Thank you in advance. :)

Fox, if you use the FreeBMD link that Reggie posted you can find some possible siblings for Albert J jnr.

To find out more about Albert John snr and Edith Rose you really need to order their marriage certificate. You can get this from GRO, costs £9.25

I must admit, that I've never really used the freebmd before as all my ancestors came from scotland. I just poodled around on scotlandspeople. gov for a few month, interchanging between ancestry and genes. But ive got the adrenaline buzz right away again.............I feel another addiction coming on!! lol :)

Rachel this is an old thread, are you needing help with the same Watson family?

edit yes i see it seems to be the same family, are you the original poster under a different name?if not have you tried messaging them?

What info in particular are you looking for please as it will help with knowing what to advise :-)

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 27 Aug 2019 16:53

Rachel seems to be a niece of Fox on the Rocks's partner..

Albert John and Margaret were FOTR's partner's parents, so it looks as if Rachel's mum Carol is the partner's sister
