ok I am looking for the census records for joseph a west born 1867 in Clerkenwell,middlesex,london.


I have the family in 1871 living at corporation buildings,in the parish of st james, Clerkenwell,joseph aged 4 all fine.

my problems start with 1881 & 1891 records,the nearest I can get for 1881 is bowling green lane, Clerkenwell but these are single single initial names and it seems to be the middle initial? could this be the family I am looking for?


1891 try as I might I do not seem to be able to find joseph at all I have the mothers death in 1887.

I have joseph in 1901 & 1911.

any help in finding this family in 81/91 census would be most gratefully received,

hope someone can find them as I think I may go mad keep going over the same records.

yes this is the birth- parents William john west- Emily esther skinner married 1849 Clerkenwell London, mother used her middle name esther. thanks

Ancestry has gone down for me, but the bowling green 1881 census looks possible, the children have the right initials and ages including a D (David Andrew?)reg Holborn 1872 with mmn Skinner - but a bit of speculation really

1901 he was a general labourer on Borough council
He and his wife Rosetta nee Saunders married 1893
the couple and 2 children had a removal order on them in 1902.
I haven't found them yet in 1911.
