No wife with William in 1851 and 1861, and 1851 says he's widowed, although 1861 says married. Also very different YOBs for Sarah.

Possibly two wives named Sarah!
Or the William below is a different man - lots of nailers in the area at the time.

But doesn't help with Henry/Harry.

Both the 1851 & 1861 Census has Henry Redfern born Hyde, Cheshire. Some of the Censuses found for Henry Redford said he was born in Aston under Lyne. The later Registration District for Aston under Lyne had Hyde in its District

It seems strange that we have been unable to find Henry Redford prior to his Marriage to Selina!

It is always worth redoing all the research after a time gap. New records are arriving on line all the time and you might spot something different.

People didn’t always tell the truth when they were arranging weddings

I appreciate all your help and comments above but I really have come to a dead end.
I know for definite that Henry married Selina Allen in Milford, Derbyshire in 1863 but various census records, certificates and individual family trees give different information about Henry’s DoB and place of birth. DoB varies from 1838 to 1842 and place of birth shows as either places in Derbyshire or Ashton under Lyne.
His marriage certificate clearly states that his father was called John….can anybody help with information on his details and his ancestors?

Yes, I know! (According to Henry when he married, but so far without any proof). That’s why I highlighted the occupation of the man who married to rule it out as part of the elimination process
