I have been trying to find Edwin James Powney born Feb 1912 in Hammersmith,Middx. with no luck. He would probably have been in Willesden or Kenton(both Middx) at this time . Thank You :-)

not seeing him and cannot trace his parents in 1921 as it appears he was illegitamate

Yes he was and he was possibly with his foster family Williams in Willesden. Foster Mum was Mahala Williams and Foster father Robert. He was not with his birth Mum as I have found her and not his birth dad as I found him too.

I can't see Mahala in 1921.

Yes that is her she was born 1866 in Gravesend Kent I am now thinking she went under the name Mary Mahala as she used that on the 1931 electoral register. If this is the case I think I have found her with her daughter Caroline and husband so I will probably order a copy to see if Edwin is one of the 3 others on it and not been transcribed

Is Edwin on the 1939 register?

I couldn't find him on it, he was married then and in Kenton

he didnt sign up until 1940

That is not him Maddie as he was in the Fire Service during the war :-) in 1938 he was in Newnham Way, Kenton, Middx and was as far as I know still there until about 1952
