Please can anyone find Bessy (Born Exeter Devon1856) and George 1859 Exeter with Parents? I think the mother was called Susan-but don't know about the father. Any help appreciated please-sorry not much to go on other then they should be in Exeter somewhere! Devon.

really od! I did find another susan on her own in 1851 working in Exeter as a servant-also born at teignmouth-but no Tapp marriage or even a spare Tapp around!

Could anybody look at the image please and see if she is married or widowed on any-I cannot mind a marriage for a Susan Webber to a tapp either! I'm beginnning to think she might have been telling fibs!

The 1861 census Susan is stated as Unmarried

Thats good (I think!) Bang goes my theory of the other girl called Susan ? from teignmouth working also in cathedral close then! (Can't remember the surname now) but I remember putting in the name susan but no surname-dob and teignmouth living in Exeter in 1851 and came up with another!! That looks really good what you have just found though.! Maybe she just called the children Webber! but the their births aren't there as Tapp or webber as far as I can see! Still looks like you've helped me a bit further. as I'm 99% sure thats her with her parents.Thanks

Purely guesswork but I think it probably is her using another name..maybe her family were a bit ashamed or something. Two children and unmarried would have been a bit off back then.

Have found a george webber registered birth Exeter fro correct year-so maybe he was involved somewhere! but as for bessie I've tried bessie bessy and elizabeth for Tapp and webber and nothing! so maybe theres another webber type of man as well!

at least it looks like she was a Tapp-I was beginning to think all my Tapps weren't really Tapps that they were webbers (My descendants come from george). Found George on Genuki police record-doesn't say why-but in other comments says-has a very long nose! which is quite funny because my dad is renowned for his rather large hooter!! Thanks for all your help-I'm sure now when checking dates that Susan is the correct susan-just the men that are a puzzle-but at least I have the line down-and her parents now as well! Thanks

Thanks- I've almost had enough tonight-(I'm sure you have as well!) I'll check what I have for her after 1871 tomorrow-and where her children are as well-and see if any of those men on the marriage ref are around them!-thanks for all your help xx

There may be Bastardy Warrants for the fathers...or should that be children. If they are about it will be under her name as well.

oh no-on 1871 she says she's a widow!! Now i'm really puzzled! and she doesn't give an occupation either so can't check with that either. ANy more ideas anyone? please
