hi all i was wondering if someone may help me get my head round this family! ELIZABETH JANE DISCOMBE was born in 1847. i have her on the 1871, 1881 and 1891 census. She was married to FRED FOLEY. Elizabeth was born in east stonhouse in devon, Fred in Plymouth, I have their marraige certificate. What is troubling me is this: I know that from her marriage cert her father is JAMES DISCOMBE and mother is ANN COLE. In 1861 i think i have her with her mother now ann conner, her sister emma discombe (didnt know about her at all) and their stepfather John Conner. I cant find them at all in 1841. i cant see james dicombe at all. I cant find the marriage entry for james and ann. Can anyone help? lou |

If you can't find her on a census with her father..........he may have been 'dreamed-up' for the marriage cert............ Where did you get the info about her mother's maiden name? It wouldn't be on the marriage cert......... Reg |

they could be, i dont know anything about james at all. my mum has the certificate for his daughters marriage so i need to check occupation. can you see elizabeth on the 51 census? |

You need to see the cert.........guessing is not a good idea. Especially when other people are involved in looking for info for you Reg |

i am not guessing reg, i know that i have seen it written down on a certificate. as i dont have any death cert, it must have been the birth or marriage. Im doing this for my mum as shes seriously ill and she has the certs 200 miles away from me, so i cant go and confirm that until half term. thanks for helping |
