Glad to be of help, Laura. I've had a good week myself with the help of a librarian at Hastings Library, so it's nice to share the good luck around. Kath. x |

Hi Kath Have spoken to Joan (the daughter) and she remembers Rose so looks like we got the right family (I mean you did). She has a framed photo on her sideboard who she knows is Ethel's mum but didn't know her name, and I look at it every week. Now we know her name was Sarah it brings the photo to life. Thanks again Laura |

Kath If we were in the same room I would kiss you! She knows they came from big families but can't remember any names, just visiting some. Will call her tonight after I put the kids to bed to chat about the info you found. Bet a few are familiar. Really appreciate you looking for me. Thank you. |

Thank you so much for your help. Daughter is over the moon we have found it and can't wait to see marriage cert. She knows they both came over from Ireland as children with their family but doesn't have any info on them. At least with the marriage cert I can get their ages and start on the census's. She is ringing her sister in Canada to tell her!!! Thank you so much you have made two old women very happy. |

Older people often only 'remember' things when you give them a push in the right direction, lol Kath. x |

Suzanne That 3rd one sounds very promising. That's the only one I know matches! Thanks will investigate. I didn't check 1917 because the daughter was sure he wasn't around then! She is in her 80s but her brain is all there, I think! But you're right, I shouldn't rely on anything she tells me. |

Annie Unfortunately we do not know but both the children, born in 1919/1921 were in Battersea so marriage may have been there. Elaine Searched under George McCarthy and results listed MACarthy and McCarthy and looked at all the images for these by quarter for the years I posted. The only thing close was a George H Mccarthy marrying a Riley in 1915 qtr 1 but cross checked this on Riley search and her name was Mary. So I am none the wiser |

And bear in mind that however adamant relatives are, they often don't remember dates correctly. My grandmother said she hadn't been to Cornwall, her mother's birth county, since before WW1 but she went in 1920 as I have a letter sent to her there. nell |

Freebmd doesn't have many records for after 1910 yet. Ancestry also has freebmd info. Have you looked on the Ancestry England & Wales bmds which give images of the index pages? nell |

When you searched on Ancestry did you check the complete images where you search through each quarter of each year ? |
