Hi kay Think you probably already have this, but benniess Mcdonald death registered Jun 1997 her DOB is shown as 9 Jun 1935. (on Ancestry) May I suggest that if you are new to tracing your family tree that you consider joining Ancestry.com. I have found this site invaluable in my research, and I am sure that many researchers out there will back me up! Good luck & happy hunting, and don't forget to post a message if you get stuck! Sarah

Kay your grandparents married in 1954. Bennieas Mcdonald married William Lees in the June quarter of 1954 in Middleton ref no: 10e-865. If you order the marriage certificate it will give you their father's names & occupation's. Georgina.

Hallo Kay, It might be easiest if you work backwards. Do you know where the children were born? As you know the year that would narrow your search. Have you tried 1837online.com? Or free BMD? That will give you the GRO index. With a birth certificate, you may find more details of your grandfather. Patsy

may i cut and paste because there are quite a few 'items' there Hello everyone, i am a new member and am very new to all of this, i have posted 2 messages on tring to find but i know very little of researching outside of G.R. Would it be please possible for someone to find a marriage for me, or tell me how to do this myself. My Grandmothers Name was Benniess McDonald born in County Durham 1936, married William Lees (sorry no d.o.b). ** is that the right spelling of her name? Bernice maybe? I cannot even summise when they got married. ** i'd start searching 1954 and work backwards They had Three children Micheal (D.O.B 1954-55), Jennifer (D.O.B 1956), and Danial(D.O.B 1957). William later died and Benniess married again to an Alan Comerford who adopted the three children and gave them his name. **any idea how old the children were ? I also believe that Micheal one of the children changed his forename from his birth name which was Butler to Micheal which he uses now. **so michael was born Butler Lees, YES? I know its confusing which is why i need help!!!! Kind Regards A very grateful Kay zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz what do you know in terms of 'where'- geographically ( other than her birth?)
