Hello thanks for the help this morning.Now i have big problem with my cox? ggrandfather Edward Cox on 1901 Census born i think it should read taunton, on 1881 census born publow same person . Now the problem is i have 2 birth certs for Edward Cox. First one Edward born 1865 publow reg district Clutton sub dis Chew Magna Somerset. Father Thomas Cox and Mother Mary Ann Price, From woollard somerset. Second one Edward Cox birth 1867 registration district Taunton sub district Taunton St Mary Magdalen. Mother Julia Crawley from Taunton. Father on the birth cert is Edward Cox Traveller occupation Hawker, But on the census he is called Edwin? why call himself edwin NOT EDWARD? I do not know which one is my gggrandfather? very confused ,and by the time i finish so will you be ha ha, may be you should have a cup of tea now after reading this i think you all deserve one. but please help me ? Did your ggfather marry? If so, get his marriage certificate and this will give you the name of his father - then you'll know which is the correct birth certificate

I thought she was talking about Edward's father Edwin/Edward! Just trying to establish what his name was! Zoe

Looks like his name was Edwin in 1851 and then in 1861 they called him Edward then he changed back to Edwin and I think he is in the 1891/1901 as Edward with a new wife Amy Zoe

Yes zoe iam trying to find which one is my ggrandfather? IS it Edawrd Cox : Father Thomas and Mother MARY Ann.? Or is it Edwin/ Edward: and Mother Julia Crawley the travellers? My grandfather edward was Married to Magaret Davies. Thanks for all your help.

Zoe Rob yes you have my ggrandfather Edward 1901 living in Ystradyfodwg. but i have 2 birth cert for him one 1865 and 1 for 1867 with diffrent set of parents am trying to find out which one is me gggrandfather. Is it Father Thomas or Father Edwin/ Edward?

If you get Edwards marriage cert it should tell you who his father is! Zoe

Do you have a birth cert to confirm her name was Margaret Davies as cannot seem to find a marriage in the area they lived and Margaret was from Zoe

There was a large Cox family in the Pensford area. I have Edwin Cox born 1839 in Stanton drew in my tree. His father was William Cox b0rn 1799 in Pensford. I know there were at least two other William Cox's born about the same time in Pensford.. If you do find a Pensford link give me a shout and I may be able to help. Incidently my Edwin has never turned up as Edward. I found these in 1851 in Publow Thomas Cox 46 Labourer Mary Cox 44 Ann Cox 13 Staymaker Marina Cox 12 scholar Jonathon Cox son 9 Edwin Cox 4. The 1865 Edward born Publow is this Thomas's grandson If the family were coalminers Clutton was the centre of the coal mining industry. Edwin Cox 4 I have census details for this family in 1861 and 1871 but Edwin is not with them.
