Hi Julie Cockermouth refers to the district where the birth was registered. Maryport is one of the places covered by the Cockermouth district. Emma

Hi Emma, I guess you could be right. Although I have to say I am almost 100% sure she was born in Mary Port not Cockermouth. But I have been wrong before so I guess this could be one of those times!! lol Thanks Julie

It could still be the same Mary Hannah, even if her birthday was June 19th. Births could still be registered for quite a while after they occured. Given she was born over halfway through the month, the chances are that she would more likely be registered in the Sept qtr, covering July, August and September.

Thanks for all help but they are not correct. The marriage record looks promising. The mary Hannah on that list was born duing the September quarter, her birthday was June 19th. Sorry I should have mentioned that. thanks again Julie

The criteria I used was petre in Cumberland between 1890 and 1910. These were all that came up. The last few children in your list don't appear at all. I wondered if they may have been born somewhere else? That might account for there (non)whereabouts in 1901 unless someone else can find them!! Good luck!

Hi Julie. According to FreeBMD there is this William Petre & Mary Ross married in Cockermouth in the June quarter 1888 The births for Petre in Cockermouth are 12 (including possible twins) 1890 - 1900 Hope this is of help. Malcolm.

He came back for WW2 and died in action) Sarah Petre born c1897 Ronald Petre born c1899 Elizabeth Petre born c1900 I guess the birth certificate will probably be the best lead.

This is a possible for 1891: dates are about right, but until I know the names of the children, difficult to cross reference. Also, wife born in Yorkshire not Dublin. You could always buy one of the kids birth certs and then you would know their names for certain.
