I just noticed you were looking for ancestors by the name of Paul and thought there might be a connection !

Gemma

Gemma Report 11 Feb 2006 19:16

That could be her. Only, if her mother was Susan McKean andfather was Daniel Naish how can her grandparents have the surname Paul? She married Henry Paul in 1915. Gemma

Gemma Report 11 Feb 2006 15:54

Hi nell I've just got back from work, sorry. I'm not sure thats the right Daniel in 1871 because I thought Daniel was born in 1852? His wife in 1859, and children 1879 and 1880. Are there any other possibles in 1871, or on earlier census'?

Elaine.........sorry you're right it probably does say married for Daniel Gemma - I have no idea about what has happened to the rest of her family - This is where your 'leg work' starts - although I find it unlikely that they all died though.......... If you can't find a death for Susan thers's always the possibilty that she didn't die but remarried. other children may have married and now have different surnames Etc... Esta

Esta, I have checked the 1901 image and I would say that Daniel was married in 1901 - not widowed. Elaine

Gemma Report 11 Feb 2006 11:18

Hi Esta, Does that mean my g.grandmother would prob have been the onlyone to survive? And she could have been living anywhere with anyone in 1901?

Gemma I found Daniel in the workhouse, minus the rest of the family last night. But your original post, where I added it, seems to have been deleted. nell

Esta Report 11 Feb 2006 11:13

Gemma you need to look through the BMD index ( freebmd.org ) for possibles deaths for the wife and children. ( I'm saying they have all died of course ) Look through the 1901 census index( free to search) to find possibles for the children who could be anywhere. 1901 daniel is a widow in the poorhouse ! If Daniel was in the workhouse in 1901 how do I find out where his wife and children are? Or are they there too?
