I think I have it. There are two John Nurses. The one b Dec Q 1854 in Brightlingsea is my 2nd cousin 3 times removed. He married to Agnes Dawson on 6/3/1880 and had three childrenAgnes 1880, Albert John 1881 and Tom born 7/6/1883 shortly after John died at sea. The other John Nurse, first married to Jane Fowler, then married to Alice is not mine. The fact that Fowlers appear in both families is a red herring - although I suppose the John Nurses could be cousins but I only know about the Brightlingsea ones who are all descended from John Nurse b 1744 Brightlingsea - I don't know where his father Thomas came from.
