Steph, don't discount them just because they are not with a ''William'' his father may have died. I know you're going to say it didn't say deceased on the marriage cert, but quite often it doesn't, that's no guarantee that James' father was alive when they married

I just checked the image for the 1853 ''Brother'' James Connelly - he is a Carter, so is his brother, nothing nautical I'm afraid, I've saved the image if you'd like it Sam
