Hi Claire. No Ann did not remarry. She is on the 1841 with ther son John 15 who she was pregnant with when Robert died and by 1845 she had died. I have found one Robert Gibson who married an Ann Sheldon but it is veryfying it that is the problem. Many thanks for all your help though, will re think on what to do. Nicky

Nicola I went back and checked marriages for Houghton but there was nothing,,,,i also checked Durham online but nothing there although there were a couple of baptisms for Gibson in Houghton-le-Spring in 1823 and 1824. Do you think Ann remarried?

Hi Claire. Thanks for looking for me, it's back to the drawing board on this one. Robert Gibson was killed in 1823 in the Plain pit disaster with his son, leaving his wife Ann pregnant and with at least 2 other small children. In the 1841 census Ann was not of this County, this being Durham, and unfortunalty do not have any other details on Robert, as it was pre census. It's a shame there wasn't a 1821 of Houghton le Spring, that would solve a lot of problems for me. They were my 4x's great grandparents. Thanks for your help though. Nicky

Hi Nicky I searched the Durham Index for 1798--1812 but found nothing , Im not sure where else i could look, I also checked Marriages for the Easington area but found nothng there too. Im sorry i couldnt find them, is there anywhere else you want me to check for you?

I know they moved to Houghton le spring in Durham where they had there children but have been trying to find their marriage for ages. Any help would be really appreciated. Nicky

Hi Claire, Would you mind looking for the marriage of an Andrew Bell to a Jane (possibly McDonald) although not sure of her surname. The first child I know about was born in Oxford, Northumberland about 1818, although I am not sure if there were any earlier children. Grasping at straws really, as I'm not sure where or when they married. Thanks a lot. Kath. x
