regarding the 1851 census. I do not have an index, but have looked through Wickfird & can't see them. Could they have been elsewhere in the district at that time? I see from an earlier reply that they married in 1838 in Billericay, but they may not have been in Wickford. Helen

Farmer's son. Born Wickford. Esther Wendon. Daughter. age either 8 or 18. no occ listed. Born Wickford. Listed as neither single nor married; just left blank. Make it more clear in the title, say 1851 and say that it's for Wickford.

Chloe - that's what I have done. Natalie - It is Wickford - don't think that's anywhere near Saffron Walden unfortunately.

Any idea whereabouts in Essex? I have 1851 & 1861 index for Saffron Walden and surrounding villages, if that's any help. Natalie

MAYBE if you ask if anyone has the 1851 (for example) Essex census and can look up the family for you in Wickford. Or you could look on 1837online for a birth for that son and buy the cert to see if it's right.
