You're welcome, Kathy..

I'm afraid the date he came from Ireland will have to remain a mystery.

Just a wild stab - perhaps John Joe's parents weren't married:

Looks like John in 1901:

John Lynch
in the Web: Ireland, Census, 1901
Name: John Lynch
Gender: Male
Marital status: Single
Age: 13
Birth Date: abt 1888
Birth Place: Co Waterford
Residence Date: 31 Mar 1901
House Number: 1
Residence Place: Kilduane, Gardenmorris, Waterford, Ireland
Relation to Head: Son
Occupation: Scholar
Religion: Roman Catholic
Language Spoken: Irish and English
Literacy: Can read and write
Household Members:
Name Age
John Lynch 60
Kate Lynch 60
Kate Lynch 19
John Lynch 13

EDIT:
Just seen Alviegal's post re the tree.

Why would John say clearly "I month" for John Joe's age, if he was actually 11 months old?

alviegal

alviegal Report 14 Aug 2020 21:14

Ah I see Kathy has a tree on ancestry with all this information and more already.

Sorry but as already been stated, there is no way to know when he left Ireland to come to Liverpool.

alviegal

alviegal Report 14 Aug 2020 20:38

??? Perhaps Gambin should read Gamble which would make the 1911 census correct.

LYNCH, JOHN JOSEPH GAMBIN
GRO Reference: 1910 J Quarter in LIVERPOOL Volume 08B Page 75

EDIT No not if John Joe is 1 month in 1911.

Kathy

WHO did he marry?

OR - if you don’t know that - which of his children is/was your parent?

PLEASE tell us ALL you know - to help us to try to help you.

Not that we will be able to answer the actual question which prompted your post

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 14 Aug 2020 13:52

The snag is - the man who married in 1911 and was father to the nine children is on 1939 census with a DOB of 18/12/1879. He is incapacitated

EDITED

Not the right man at all - birth registered in West Derby district

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 14 Aug 2020 13:50

I know - the Margaret in 1911 census is just a coincidence
I posted it because of John's YOB and occupation, and the child's name.

It's not this marriage, either:

Marriages Jun 1910 (>99%)
GAMBLE Margaret Liverpool 8b 210
Lynch John Liverpool 8b 210

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 14 Aug 2020 13:46

The marriage I posted didn’t take place until after the 1911 census - see the note above the info

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 14 Aug 2020 13:42

Re John Joe -

I don't see any obvious birth.

There are these:

LYNCH, JOHN mms EVANS
GRO Reference: 1911 M Quarter in WEST DERBY Volume 08B Page 555

LYNCH, JOHN mms BUCHANAN
GRO Reference: 1911 J Quarter in LIVERPOOL Volume 08B Page 37

Ancestry suggests this:

LYNCH, JOSEPH mms BAILEY
GRO Reference: 1911 J Quarter in WEST DERBY Volume 08B Page 353

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 14 Aug 2020 13:30

??? I know Kathy said definitely 1886 - but maybe ??

John Lynch
in the 1911 England Census
Name: John Lynch
Age in 1911: 23
Estimated birth year: abt 1888
Relation to Head: Head
Gender: Male
Birth Place: Kill, County Waterford, Ireland
Civil Parish: Bootle cum Linacre
County/Island: Lancashire
Country: England
Street address: 30 Denbigh Street
Marital status: Married
Occupation: Marine Fireman <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Registration district: West Derby
Registration District Number: 455
Sub-registration district: Bootle
ED, institution, or vessel: 18
Piece: 22424
Household Members:
Name Age
John Lynch 23
Margaret Lynch 26 - Stradbally, County Waterford, Ireland
John Joe Lynch 1/12 - Liverpool

Record says married 12 years, which is obviously impossible, and has been scored out.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 14 Aug 2020 12:24

There is only one marriage for John J Lynch in Liverpool area anywhere near 1910

JAS qtr
LYNCH John J MCNALLY Margaret A 1911 West Derby, Register Office or Registrar Attended Liverpool REG_WD/290/4

Suggests RC, which would fit a man from Ireland

Nine children's births on freebmd from 1912 to 1927

further PM - "Not my Grandad thanks for replying "

Please reply on thread so all helpers can see your replies.

As ErikaH says, there were no records of travel between Ireland and England, but finding him in 1901 c age 14/15 may help narrow down the time frame for you.

What are all the details from the 1910 marriage certificate

If you have his birth certificate, what are the details from that

If he can be found in the 1901 census at age c15 then more clues might help.

Did he come to England with family,

Further PM -

Have replied and asked Kathy to reply on the thread
