Well done AG that certainly looks like her. Familysearch suggests that the Christina who marries Gus Melvin is Christina Wilson Wood 1870 Drumoak, Aberdeenshire but a quick search has her parents as James and Jane.

What I meant was that familysearch has made a mistake linking Christina Wilson Wood to the marriage. It was obviously a different Christina who married Gus Melvin and YOUR Christina seems to fit the bill going by the Marriage record found by AG.

If you take out a free trial make sure you cancel it within the time period otherwise you will be charged for a sub - assuming you don’t wish to carry it on.

Most UK library services have free access to Ancestry sometimes also/ or FMP.

They don’t have access to Scotland’s People.

Christina's father was Francis Wood and her mother was Mary Love Wood so don't think its the same person. The last one is recorded as father Frank C Wood and mother Mary E Wood.

Thank you everyone for all the information, I really appreciate it. Argyllgran - I think the information re Christina's marriage is perhaps the wrong person. My Christina has the second name of McLean (not Wilson). Also my Christina's parents were not James and Jane but Francis and Mary Love. Thank you anyway - I have a lot to work on.

He died in 1914.

I hadn't posted any more about him because Linda said she'd traced Christina's brothers.

Donald appears to have returned to Greenock and emigrated in 1903 on board the Columbia with wife Catherine Valentine Wood and children Francis 1898 and Donald 1903.

Gilbert has a very informative obituary after his death in Pawtucket and having 'one of the largest Scottish funerals seen in the area.' Thought family would be mentioned but no joy there. :-(

Looking again at the 1881 census posted earlier, I note that Christina had a brother ,
Gilbert 1862 - a "stone carver".

I think those Woods travelling to Boston in 1899 are Gilbert's wife and family - and his sister Christina 1869, and his brother Donald ("Dan").
