Hello! Does anyone know if you can apply for WW1 service records, and if so how do you go about it! Thanks Chris |

Its more a case of whether they have survived Im afraid Chris. They will be a Kew if they have. Have you found a medal card for him on National Archives Documents on line? |

Other than getting someone else to visit Kew for you, I don't think there is :o(( I think just under 50% of records have survived and those that have can be viewed on microfilm and then a copy taken from the film. All this is assuming he wasn't an officer? (their records are available to order through the post, if the record has survived) Merry |

Hi Chris A couple of weeks ago, I went to a lecture where we were told that the kia records were all destroyed before ever the rest of the records were bombed. I don't know how true that is, but it may mean that you would have to use other sources like newspaper write ups. 1837online have an index which gives very basic details: where signed up, age and birthplace. Good luck. |
