Does anyone know, if I ordered my g grandparents' marriage certificate from 1881 would it contain their places of birth and names of their fathers as modern certs do? Thanks Trudi

It will have their father's names and occupations, but no place of birth, assuming you are talking about Eng/Wales. I have never seen a ''modern'' marriage cert with a place of birth??????? Merry

Thank you, no the place of birth was another question I was going to ask, but then I worked it out for myself, but didn't delete that bit! I really must concentrate! ;0> Trudi

Marriage certificates have had the names and occupations of the fathers of both bride and groom since civil registration started in 1837. Kate.
