I think we should settle for Caroline or we put the 1881 census as suspect !! lol Dunno why Alfred should call himself Widower - unless it was wishful thinking (?) and cannot trace death of Sarah Cottle from 1881 to 1901 at the right age.

It definitely is Caroline.......she is my grandmother. I couldn't trace the death of Sarah either. She was dead by 1895, as she doesn't appear on the marriage certificate of Caroline. Ken.
