Hi Does anyone know where I can start my search for people emigrating to USA/Canada during the first half of 20th century? Any suggestions gratefully received. Regards Louise

If you give me some names and ages I'll look on the passenger records on Ancestry. Ellis Island closed in 1924. There are records for Boston, New York , and Philadelphia that go up to 1948. Rose

Do you know what year William travelled and what port he went from, if not where did he live before he emigrated?

Hi Larry & Rosemary William was born in 1873. I don't know when he traveled (he disappeared from my grandmother's life when she was 5, about 1902). His last known address , in 1901, was Canterbury Rd, Gillingham, Kent where he had a shop as a hairdresser. Many thanks for your help. Regards Louise

Hi Louise, I wasn't able to find William on any of the immigration or US census records. I don't have a subscription to the Canadian records but there are a few on GR who do. Perhaps they could help. Rose
